Caring for Your Surya Rug
Maintain the beauty of your Surya rug by vacuuming it regularly. Also, turn it periodically to equalize wear and sun exposure. Remove grease spots with ordinary wool cleaning detergents. If your rug ever needs to be professionally cleaned, ensure that the cleaner knows how to care for the type of rug, and be sure to examine the rug together, in advance of the cleaning, and get a signed receipt and guarantee for the work to be done. Only when the following steps for spot cleaning are not sufficient, should you need to professionally clean your rug.
Prevent stains from setting in by cleaning spills immediately. To spot clean, use a clean, white cloth and always blot, never rub; rubbing only forces the spill deeper into the rug. Removing as much moisture as possible with a clean, absorbent, white cloth is essential. If a stain persists, use lukewarm water with a good wool cleaner and, if this fails, you can use a solvent. Be sure to pretest the solvent on a small section of the rug before using. Always use clean tap water to remove any residual cleaner, and dry towels to absorb any remaining moisture. Restore the beauty and texture of your rug by vacuuming it when it is dry.
